Jessica and I got along instantaneously. We chatted about what she envisioned for her day and of course there was some dog talk in there too. But it was something about the way she carried herself in conversation that I knew we were a match made in heaven. We had the same priorities. She didn’t opt for your typical bridal party – she told me the day was going to be focused on her and Wesley’s love for one another. From there on in I was hooked. It wasn’t just the way she talked about Wes but also the fact that she’d given me two amazing locations to capture their wedding portraits: Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, and Dundurn Castle in Hamilton. Like come on, both those spots are a weddings photographer’s dream. Then you add this gorgeous couple to the mix and it’s all just a touch overwhelming.
From that first time Jessica & I spoke on the phone, to the moment I stepped into her parent’s home on the wedding day, I felt like I had known herself and her family my entire life. This easy going and stunningly beautiful bride was so fun to be around, simply put, she was a breath of fresh air the entire day. Wesley was no different, being witness to the look on his face as he saw his bride for the first time was something I’m sure I won’t soon forget. And then watching them prance around Dundurn and RBG with that newlywed glow – do I dare say it – flawless.
At the end of the evening we made a friendship pact, promising to stay in touch. I cannot wait to see these two grow more and more in love together as the years go by. I get goosebumps just thinking about how lucky I must be to have been witness to it, even for just that one day.
